Team JYK
What we learned today: - Don’t try to accept everyone’s opinion. (Inafune-sensei) * If it’s not good, just say it. - If no one can understand it, then it’s meaningless. (Inafune-sensei) * No matter how good the idea is, if you can’t let the other person to understand it, then it’s meaningless. - At least try out the “master pieces”. (Ono-sensei) * There are reasons why people call them that. - Steal other people’s speech. (Ono-sensei) * Stock them in your brain, use them when it’s necessary. - Feelings CAN be expressed. (Imaeda-sensei) * If the planner has feeling that’s strong enough, no matter what the situation it will reach the reader. - Director must have… 1, Firm understanding of the concept. 2, Confidence Team Picasso The blog newbie Ishikawa here. “If no one can understand it, then it’s meaningless” This was the most important thing we’ve learned today. Saying it may be easy but to put it into action, is another story. To achieve that, we need to think, what people can understand, and what do they want. My concept was lacking “what do the users want”. That is why our team name is “Team Picasso”, to break through the ordinary. Team SIN Nice to meet you all, Tanaka here. I am 35 years old, the oldest in the 2nd semester of the Inafune-Juku. Most of the students here are in their 20’s, and there might be some teenagers, but I would like to think that I have a teenage heart. The blog I write might be a bit old fashioned, but I will keep my style. Ono-sensei said something that really worried us. “We (the teachers) don’t even know how the class will go, every class agenda will be decided at that very moment. There is no script at all”. We only had 10 minutes to talk with the team, and then it’s presentation time for Inafune-sensei, but Inafune-sensei arrived earlier than we expected. From there, everything went south. To summaries everything… ・ If no one can understand it, then it’s meaningless. I think teamwork may be more important than concept itself. It is very easy to force an idea to someone when working in a team. That is why we named our team “SIN”. SIN in Japanese can have many meanings, “believe”, “heart”, “New”, “Real”, “Advance”, “Core”, and more. These are principles we want and should never forget. Ono-sensei From this class I will start updating the blog from teacher’s side as well. The 2nd class started from choosing which idea to present. Each team has 15 minutes to choose what idea to present, and 5 minutes to present it. That is very short period of time, and every team was having a hard time. It is hard enough to just present something to Inafune-sensei. With time limit it became even harder. Limited time, and nervousness, nothing went well for the students. “Doesn’t matter how good the idea, if you can’t present it well, it is meaningless”. After the presentation, it was lesson time. Why did you choose that idea to present? You can’t just make the game you want. You have to think about the people who will play your game. What kind of people have that console? What kind of games do those people want? Your “good” ideas have to fit into that equation. Inafune-sensei’s lessons always have this kind of “hidden intention”. When you can understand the true meaning of Inafune-sensei’s lesson, that’s when you are ready to move on to the next stage. Think harder! To let someone understand your idea is important, but understanding what others are saying is way more important important. When one of comcept’s directors Imaeda passed by, I pulled him into the class and made him answer some of the students’ questions about… pretty much everything. It was a surprise for Imaeda as well. Inafune-Juku is about surprises. You don’t know what you will get until the moment. You can learn from not only Keiji Inafune, but everyone working in Comcept.
