School of Inafune Lesson 8
Kouji Higashimura Here are some of the “why?s” in Inafune-Juku. (and my assumed answers to those questions) “why are they filming the lessons?” I have asked about this once, but no one has given me a straight answer. Maybe Inafune-sensei watches the video and looking for a future employee? “why are they doing this Inafune-Juku?” Actually I heard the answer from Inafune-sensei himself. “I want to provide a bit of entrances to the industry for the up future creators”. I think to be a creator, we have to ask “why?” in everything. Kasubuchi Today’s lesson was a bit different. We have heard so many great stories from Inafune-sensei. Akemi Fukuda Today’s lesson was given by Inafune-sensei. I think we learned the fundamental principle of creation (of all things). If the concept isn’t solid, then everything will end up to be very dull. Making the backbone of a storyline was so hard, but at the same time seeing the ideas unfold into a good concept was FUN!! Naoki Iwata 8th lesson has ended, and winter is here. I had my brain working at full throttle for the presentation. Unfortunately, I pushed too far and came up with a lot of unnecessary information. When I was preparing on the presentation, I was so sure and confident about the material. But everything turned out to be “not so much”. Inafune-sensei came in the afternoon. There was a phrase in his speech that really stuck with me. “Nothing is useless in game creation, everything will work in some way, someday”. Just because it doesn’t work now, it doesn’t mean it won’t work in the future. Sometimes the idea you have maybe too a head of your time. There was another phrase, which was “you have to have the guts to break everything you have, and start from scratch”. My favorite part of the lesson was the ‘free question time’. I might have asked some questions were considered “taboo” in the industry. Even to those questions, Inafune-sensei answered precisely.
